Is your crew facing team burnout? You are not alone. Per a recent Deloitte survey, 77 percent of working professionals are struggling from burnout. After the first phase of WFH benefits, people are beginning to understand the flip side of the remote work model. Since this is going to be a long-term protocol for many companies, leaders must avoid this negative outcome. Reducing Team Burnout

Here are some ways leaders can find what their team really needs to fight off team burnout:

Interact Frequently

Instead of having annual reviews, regularly talk to your employees. The majority of the workforce is working in isolation. Taking care of their mental well-being and psychological safety is also part of your Key Responsibility Areas (KRA) now.

Assure Mental Well-Being

Gartner’s 2020 Reimagine HR Employee Survey indicates that 23 percent of professionals reported having better mental health and 17 percent believed having improved physical health when leaders were empathetic to them. Show empathy, and you may see a 21-percent rise in the number of higher performers.

Permit Short Breaks

Since the barrier between work and home has dissolved, employees feel they are constantly connected to work, resulting in mental fatigue. Allow them to take short breaks during the workday and support scheduling personal time off as needed to avoid team burnout.

Prioritize Results More Than Work Hours

According to Gartner’s 2020 ReImagineHR Employee Survey, 55 percent of working professionals had higher productivity when they were given flexibility in work schedule, location, and work style. Set your expectations clearly so that they deliver their work without interfering with their personal life.

Collaborate Better

Since teammates can be distributed in several parts of the world, you need better collaboration to make them work as a unit. Facilitate better tools and systems to make that possible.

One of the ways to reduce team burnout is by really involving the team members in the project and the organization’s welfare. Providing relevant tools and guidance can significantly increase their productivity as well. Understand what your people want because that is what really matters in this new normal.
